This beautiful Arts and Crafts period home, located on St Andrews Road in Great Malvern, boasts stunning original features and a picturesque setting. However, the time had come for a complete external façade renovation.
After meeting with the clients and gaining a clear understanding of their priorities, I proposed a carefully considered plan — which they were happy to proceed with. The primary objective was to retain the original character of the property. To achieve this, we sourced reproduction cast iron downpipes and gutters that closely replicated the original fittings, many of which had become damaged over time.
Equally important was improving the home’s energy efficiency. We installed a substantial layer of external insulation to minimise heat loss, followed by a high-quality, pre-coloured silicone render finish. To ensure the renovation remained true to the original design, we also incorporated imperial brick slips that matched the original detailing.
The result is a home that remains faithful to its architectural heritage, while benefiting from modern insulation standards and a low-maintenance finish — effectively future-proofing the property without compromising its charm.
